Fourth of July Workout

This is the potato salad I made for our 4th of July meal. It has spinach, egg, cucumber, feta cheese, fresh new onions, chicken sausage, herbs from my garden, and fresh new red potatoes. It is dressed with mint-chive vinaigrette.

My workout was short and heavy... 10 sets of L/R single 24kg push press. I didn't get a chance to GTG as much as I planned... 3 sets of 4.

I'm not a big fan of chicken either... I got the sausage by accident. I'm not sorry... it was delicious!

I have to say, I haven't noticed weakness when I eat chicken... I will have to be more observant next time I have some. What is the basis for this idea? Is it true for all fowl?

It was interesting to hear Pavel dis' chicken. I figured that out last year for myself too. My body just doesn't like it, though my taste buds don't mind - hey it tastes just like...

I find turkey agrees with my body just fine. Definitely a different experience than chicken. Don't eat other fowl enough to notice its effect.

One way to find out: Eat a lot of it and little of anything else, then notice how you feel/perform afterwards for at least several hours or longer. Do that several times and should have a good idea for your body.

Chicken is nowhere near my favorite, but this chicken sausage rocks!

And the salad as a whole? Wonderful! My wife is a genius with food.

Try a long push press, from full squat all the way to the over head push press.
I did this with two 24kg for 7 reps before RKC, it is brutal.

Pavel doesn't really like chicken so he tells people that it makes you weak and you need to eat steak. It is just Pavel being Pavel

Doug, Now you tell me... I just told one of my long time clients to stop eating chicken for the month of July as experiment to find out if chicken really does make you weak.

I thought I was getting pork sausage... chicken is not my first choice for flesh. I did get it at the Farmer's Market, so they are not factory raised bird... plus I am a blood type O, caveman diet - animal flesh and veggies.

Taikei, I will try that press combo, with 20's... I don't think I could do double 24's. I am beginning to wonder if I could ever press a 24kg. My goal of mastering the Lady Beast may be a little lofty... Aaron's prediction is that I will have to beef up.

Fawn, I think 16kg would be just about right. It gets your abdomen real good. With double 32kg, I only managed 3 reps.

I came up to RKC without beef and pork for about a year by the way. The Downtowner's T-bone steak I just couldn't resist. That was the night before I met you guys so yes, beef got me RKC certified.

LOL sorry Fawn! I guess you let your client go for the month and see if it's true or not. Maybe pavel is onto something.

Isn't it amazing when a simple post about a stinkin' salad creates so much stinkin' controvery over something besides the point...chicken?????? LOL

I've been wanting to take pictures along with recipes for my blog. As you know I'm no where near a "pro" at this food stuff, but that makes me more relatable to other "non-pros", so I think I might have a voice in this dept.

I've got to undo this "block" I have with photos and get the party started! This message was for me!

Tracy, this message was for you! You have inspired me to do this... I am going to try to post one food picture and recipe per week, probably Sunday because it is my "think ahead for the week" food day.

The way I think about food has changed a lot now that I no longer cook for money... cooking for health as well as flavor and enjoyment is important. So, don't worry about not being a food "pro". Speak up and take a photo!
