Deadlift Night

I was really looking forward to deadlifting on Friday night, especially now that I only pull every other week. The gym was closing early in preparation for the Twin Cities Open Powerlifting meet, so we had to make it a quick workout. Here is how it all went down...

Sumo Deadlifts
135X5
165X5
205X3
225X1
255X1
265X1
270X1X1
~270 didn't go up the way I thought it would... it was a little tough off the ground.

I think you need to figure out what your top set is going to be for that workout so that you can get right to it instead of ramping up 20 or 10 lbs at a time. I would have gone 135, 185, 225 and then right to 255 and then 270 or 275 even. This way you would have made a 50, then 40, then 30 and 15 lb jumps respectively.

I knew you were going to say that! I even said so when I was loading the bar! LOL! I was planning on going to 275... but there was so much distraction with the guys hauling in the equipment for the meet, I decided to go a little lighter than I planned. I just couldn't focus. When 255 was felt heavier than I expected... I backed off a little.
